The Catio

Mommee and Daddee worked hard and got our catio installed.

Lookee here:

Daddeee

I'm not a very brave cat, but my brother Jackson and sister Ellie are. They're what I would call
street cats. They would probably say they're more experienced than me in the big bad world, because they both came from places where they were semi-feral, and there were lots of cats. Jackson definitely came from a hoarding situation, and as such doesn't have great bathroom skills. But I digress, and that's for another blog.

Mommee kind of forced me through the cat door to the catio. I immediately turned around and cried to be let in. There's a window right next to the door, and I couldn't tell where the door was. It was also a long jump up from the landing pad in the catio, and that didn't work well.

You could say I was an excellent cat to try out the configuration and see if it worked well. (Hint: It didn't.)

So some things got changed. A box is now on part of the landing pad so it's easy to go out and back in. The dresser that was in front of the window and was a little too high is now gone. You can see from this pic of Ellie deciding whether she wants to go in and out that there is not a small table and some stairs (!).

The cat door itself has been taped into the "up" position so we don't have to mess around with figuring out which was to swing it to get in and out. And some pillows have been put in front of the window so it's obvious where the door is.

I did good! By being confused, I got to point out a lot of things that could be better, and all my suggestions were met!

So now, we can all go in and out as we please. Jackson is the bravest of us (he's also the youngest - I wonder if that makes a difference....).

Jackson - he's a show off.

Have I been back out yet?

Nope.

I'll get there. I'm like Mommee, I like to let the early adopters make sure it's safe, and THEN I'll go out. I mean, let's get serious. I was in the bathroom this morning and heard some voices over the fence of our yard. They were far away, but it made no difference to me! Growling and running away ensued. There's probably another post about THAT in your future. What makes me so scared? If you figure it out, let me know.
